Magnet Program

Saints Medical Center has committed to earning the prestigious distinction of being named a Magnet Hospital, the nation's highest honor for nursing excellence as awarded by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). The Magnet designation means that Saints has created an environment that supports nursing practice and focuses on professional autonomy, decision making at the bedside, nursing involvement in determining the work environment, professional education, career development and nursing leadership. Quality of care and patient satisfaction are generally higher in Magnet organizations, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

To achieve Magnet status, Saints Medical Center must meet more than 65 standards developed by the ANCC during its three year Magnet preparation period. The standards must be demonstrated in a very extensive written document and validated and clarified by a site visit from a Magnet Peer Review Team for a three-day onsite visit. Although achieving Magnet designation focuses on the nursing staff, everyone at Saints Medical Center plays an integral role in achieving this honor.
