Back on His Feet and in the Game
You’ll often find seventy-five-year-old Jack McArdle of Lowell smiling and laughing, especially when he’s on the golf course. Jack has been active his entire life; an avid golfer and skier. Unfortunately his high level of energy and overall good health did not make him exempt to his family’s history of knee troubles. So it was not a surprise to Jack when at the age of fifty-five he began to have problems with his knee. “I had my first knee surgery at Saints 20 years ago,” he stated. “The staff at Saints, as well as my orthopedist exceeded my expectations. My care was superb.”
This past November when Jack’s other knee unexpectedly swelled and grew painful, he knew exactly what had to be done and where. After consulting with his orthopedic specialist, Jack decided to have a total knee replacement at Saints Medical Center. Jack trusted the experience of his Saints orthopedic team to get him back in the game again.
As a Saints center of excellence, the Orthopedic Center provides a full range of bone and joint care, from arthritis and joint replacement to sports medicine and rehabilitation. The Center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of orthopedic specialists including physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists and case managers. Patients have a dedicated orthopedic coordinator to guide them through each step of the process. Working together, this team ensured Jack had a smooth road to recovery.
“Thanks to my Saints team,” added Jack, “I’m counting on shaving five strokes off my handicap this golf season!”
