Saints Medical Center Honored for Outstanding
Care by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care

We are pleased to announce that Saints Medical Center is among a select group of 46 New England hospitals that have been named to the 2009 Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Hospital Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll recognizes adult, acute care hospitals for performance among the top 25 percent of those measured nationally. Saints - the only hospital in the Merrimack Valley to receive the honor – joins other prestigious Massachusetts hospitals on the honor roll, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and New England Baptist Hospital.

We want to thank our dedicated team of caregivers  (physicians, nurses, EMTs, medical support staff, employees and volunteers) for their ongoing commitment to quality care in a compassionate Catholic setting.

How Honorees Were Selected

Hospitals were evaluated on processes for caring for patients with heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and general surgery, as well as results of patient surveys measuring their hospital experiences.

Other benchmarks included intensive care unit (ICU) staffing, computerized physician order entry, adherence to safe practices, and prevention of in-hospital injuries.
