SAINTS MEDICAL CENTER PARAMEDIC
RECEIVES SWAT AWARD
LOWELL, Mass., Sept. 21, 2009 – Saints Medical Center paramedic Timothy Regan was recently recognized by the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team for his dedication to providing tactical medical support to NEMLEC SWAT.
Regan accompanied the NEMLEC SWAT competition team to the Connecticut SWAT Challenge in West Hartford, Connecticut, where the team presented him with his award. NEMLEC SWAT’s competition team competed against numerous New England SWAT teams in SWAT-related skill and scenario events, from sharpshooting to hostage rescue.
Since 1990, Regan has been a fulltime paramedic with Saints Medical Center and has been the tactical medical coordinator and lead SWAT medic on the NEMLEC SWAT team for nearly 15 years. He actively trains with NEMLEC SWAT and responds to high-risk law enforcement incidents throughout Northeastern Massachusetts.
The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) is a non-profit corporation, composed of a consortium of 47 police departments in Middlesex and Essex Counties, and two County Sheriff’s Departments. In many respects, NEMLEC functions as a specialized, regional policing operation, and NEMLEC SWAT responds throughout Northeastern Massachusetts to resolve the most serious high risk and life threatening police incidents.
Saints Medical Center’s Paramedic Department is the designated tactical medical provider for the NEMLEC SWAT team. Saints is the primary 911 Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider to the City of Lowell and Towns of Chelmsford, Dracut, Dunstable, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, and Westford.
Saints’ Paramedics share NEMLEC’s philosophy of regionalizing specialized services by delivering sophisticated ALS emergency medical care through a highly-skilled regional paramedic system, leveraging the highest quality medical care, allowing for enhanced care capabilities, and providing significant cost efficiencies to the public and insurance payors.
Mr. Regan resides with his family in Dracut.
