Annual Nursing Excellence Awards

Saints Medical Center is proud to recognize and honor excellence in nursing practice. Each year, nominees for the Nursing Excellence Awards are selected based on the following criteria:

Demonstrates a commitment to quality patient care and service excellence
• Exhibits a high level of expertise in nursing practice
• Devises methods to improve patient care practice/nursing practice
• Participates in the development of education tools and/or patient care plans
• Practices according to Saints values; service, excellence, respect, values, integrity, caring and enthusiasm

Supports an environment of professional development and participates in professional activities
• Demonstrates behavior of a positive role model and inspires peers
• Presents educational programs to peers/patients/families/community
• Presently holds full active membership in at least one professional organization.  (i.e., specialty organization, alumnae, etc)
• Participates in academic or non-academic learning activities
• Holds specialty certification (i.e., CCRN, CEN, CNOR, Oncology, etc.) or evidence of advanced degree
• Serves as a member and actively participates as committee and/or task force member
• Willing to take on unit projects/activities

Demonstrates commitment to the future of nursing
• Networks and shares knowledge
• Supports collaborative/multidisciplinary care
• Participates in mentoring and/or precepting new staff members
• Improves the perception of nursing through practice and networking

Recipients of the Nursing Excellence Awards receive the following:

• Their picture displayed on the Wall of Excellence in Saints Medical Center
• Recognition at the Nurse Appreciation Party
• Recognition on the Saints web site
